The Cornwall Police Association in partnership with the Police Association of Ontario, Seaway Hyundai, Cornwall Tire and many members of the community were proud to raise $3,295 by challenging Retired Police Sergeant Thom Racine to shave his 35+ year moustache. All the proceeds were donated to the Saint Vincent de Paul food bank and will benefit members of our community who are in need..
Saturday, November 18th, 2017 marked the fifth annual Santa's Street Hockey Challenge in Le Village of Cornwall. Portions of Montreal Road were blocked off to allow approximately 100 children the chance to play in the ball hockey tournament.
The tournament was free was participants, encouraging children to get out and have fun representing the school or agency they belonged to. The event was sponsored by a number of agencies, including the CPA, in order to cover costs associated to the event. Every player took home a tournament medal, while the Boys & Girls Club was declared the overall tournament winner.
This year the beneficiaries of the tournament were the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SD&G, Eamer's Corners Public School, and Bishop MacDonell School, each receiving $1000.
A huge thank you to all participants, sponsors, along with Robin McIntosh, Dave MacLean, Matt Dupuis, Darrell Blakely, and Kurt Fraser for representing Cornwall Police proudly at this event.
On September 30th, 2017 the CPA proudly participated the annual Kids, Cops n Fishing event down by the St. Lawrence River. This year's event marked one of the largest turnouts in recent years, showing how Kids, Cops n Fishing is continuing to grow in our community. It is an important event to give sworn and civilian staff members the opportunity to interact with local children and learn more about the sport. In addition to leaving with great memories, all participants left the event with their own fishing rod and kit to take home with them. A huge thank you goes out to all of the staff members and volunteers who made this great event possible.
Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 marked the fourth annual Bikes and Badges event in which the CPA is a proud sponsor. This is an event that is continuing to grow, increasing in sponsors and participants every year. This year's event had officers handing out 110 bicycle helmets to children who had registered for the event. We are thrilled to be a part of an event that encourages children to learn about bicycle safety, but also have fun while interacting with members of the CPA.
